Youth held with LSD blots worth Rs 7.9 lakh

In a major narcotics operation, Anjuna Police arrested a 26-year-old youth and seized 316 LSD blots valued at Rs 7.9 lakh during a pre-dawn raid near the Siolim football ground on Thursday.
The raid, conducted between 12.50 am and 3.40 am on the basis of specific and reliable information, led to the arrest of Sahil Manohar Korgaonkar, a resident of Korgao, Pernem.
Police said the suspect was found in illegal possession of approximately 6.52 grams of LSD, a psychotropic substance under the NDPS Act.
The narcotics were recovered from a Maruti Suzuki Baleno (GA-03-AF-5903) car in which the accused had been travelling.
Following the seizure, Anjuna Police registered an FIR under Section 22(C) of the NDPS Act, 1985, which deals with possession of commercial quantities of psychotropic substances.
The accused has been placed under arrest and police said further investigation is underway to trace the source of the drugs and identify possible links to wider peddling networks.
Further investigation is in progress under supervision of Anjuna PI Suraj Gawas and overall supervision of SDPO, Shridevi B V (IPS) and SP North, H Madkaikar.
