Youth nabbed for theft at landlord’s house in Saligao

PORVORIM: Domingos Antonio D’Souza of Nigvaddo-Saligao had lodged a complaint on April 22 stating that his tenant Arun Lamani (21) of Bagalkot-Karnataka took his mobile phone and made a transaction amounting to Rs 1,20,000 to an unknown person’s account through an online payment mode after installing a UPI payment app on the phone.  

D’Souza said the accused also took away cash of Rs 5,000 and a pair of gold earrings which were kept on the table. Saligao Police registered a complaint against the accused under Sections 318(4), 316(2), and 305 of BNS 2023 on October 19. Saligao police managed to track the location of the mobile, and the accused, Arun Parshuram Lamani, was apprehended from Vijaypur-Karnataka and later arrested in connection with the case.  

During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to having committed the crime. Investigations are in progress under the supervision of Police Inspector Somnath L Mahajik and the guidance of SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe and North SP Akshat Kaushal.
