Reiterating commitment to tackle illegal and irregular constructions, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that officials across departments including district collectors have been directed that any new illegal construction would reflect on their confidential reports.
“Clear instructions have been given to them. Henceforth, any illegal construction that comes up, the concerned bureaucrats will be held responsible. It would reflect on their confidential report,” he warned.
Following a High Court order on demolishing illegal structures, a detailed analysis identified eight types of violations across comunidade, private, government land, etc.
Sawant stated that efforts were being made to streamline the regularisation process for unauthorized constructions. Under the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorised Constructions Act (RUCA) introduced about a decade ago, 10,000 applications were received with 2,000 scrutinized and granted sanads. The remaining 8,000 are pending due to issues related to land classification, setbacks and approvals from the TCP and road authorities.
“We are working on streamlining the process but illegal constructions will not be spared,” he said, adding, “we should give a chance to irregular constructions for regularization.”
