Mandrem Police have arrested a 32-year-old Bangladeshi woman for allegedly staying in Goa without valid travel documents.

The accused, identified as Sarmin Bibi, was detained at the Arambol parking area during a routine verification drive. Upon checking her credentials, officers found that she was unable to produce a valid passport or visa permitting her stay in India.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman had been residing in the State illegally, police said in a statement issued on Sunday adding that the accused violated section 21, 23(a) of Immigration and Foreigner Act 2025.

Police said further inquiries are underway to ascertain how and when she entered the country and whether others were involved in facilitating her stay.

Legal action is being initiated against the accused under the relevant provisions of law, police officials added.
