The presence of a coconut vendor operating near a traffic island at the western bypass service road, Benaulim triggered outrage over the failure of the system in cracking a whip against illegal business activities on the road.
GOACAN Secretary Lorna Fernandes has promised to take up the matter at the State Road Safety Council meeting scheduled on Monday at the Secretariat.
She said this is happening because of the failure of the supervisory agencies despite repeatedly highlighting it at the South Goa DRSC meetings.
“How is a coconut vendor doing business near the traffic island on the service road the western bypass which has already reported a couple of accidents since its commissioning.
"This only goes to show the system failure in addressing the issue. We will raise the matter at the State Road Safety Council meeting tomorrow at the Secretariat for necessary action and directions”, she added.
