LoP condemns attacks on Christians across country

MARGAO

Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has condemned the series of attack on the Christian community during the Christmas season.

Reacting to attacks on Christian Community during the Christmas season in various parts of country, the Leader of Opposition on Sunday stated that the situations in the country are so worsen that people are forced to celebrate Christmas under fear.

He said that such incidents are worrying and condemnable and this undermines the secular fabric of the country.

“This is an assault on India’s constitutional guarantees of religious freedom. One should not be forced to celebrate festivals under fear. Government should protect everyone, but it has failed,” Alemao said.

“By vandalising churches, ransacking Christmas decorations and threatening people will not help to make growth of the country, but it will send wrong message and the Government should introspect and act,” Alemao said.

“We are all citizens of this country with equal rights given by our constitution. We respect our constitution, those who don’t, they attack on others,” Alemao said.
