Tourism dept signs MoU to promote wellness tourism

PANAJI: The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Gomantak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya and Research Centre (GAMRC), Shiroda, to promote wellness tourism in the State. The MoU was signed at Paryatan Bhavan, Patto, in the presence of Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte, Tourism Director Kedar Naik, GAMRC principal Dr Neelesh Pramod Korde and other officials. Under the agreement, both sides will jointly promote Ayurveda and yoga-based wellness tourism by developing customised wellness packages, strengthening marketing efforts and taking part in national and international forums. The partnership also includes setting up Ayurveda and yoga centres at tourism properties, creating AYUSH information cells, preparing promotional material and supporting training, research and knowledge exchange to build wellness tourism in Goa.

Panaji: Goa received its first seasonal charter flight from Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Thursday with a Fly Arystan aircraft bringing 174 passengers to Manohar International Airport, Mopa, at 10.25 am.
