Injecting a bit of fizz into its Lok Sabha campaign, the Congress on Thursday launched campaign vehicles from its Panaji headquarters with most of its top leadership flagging the specially designed ‘Jait Rath’ and simultaneously initiating a 'Missed Call' campaign -- ‘Haath Dega Saath, Badlenge Halaat’.

The INDIA Bloc's North Goa Congress candidate Ramakant Khalap was flanked by GPCC President Amit Patkar, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, MLA Carlos Alvares-Ferreira, MLA Alton Dcosta, Amarnath Panajikar and other leaders as the vehicles were flagged off.

Patkar released a cell phone number -- 9821821898 -- for its 'missed call campaign' on which people wishing to support the party can make a missed call to.

"Congress functionaries will get in touch with all who call to formally enlist their support and join the campaign.

Patkar said the 'Jait Rath' campaign vehicles will traverse all the assembly segments and create awareness about the ‘Nyay Guarantees’ announced in the Congress' manifesto.  Issues like unemployment and inflation (price rise) which Goans are grappling with will fuel the campaign and ensure a change.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised in 2014 that mining will be restarted. But double engines have failed in resumption of mining and also to create jobs,” Patkar said.

Alemao in his brief remarks claimed that the party candidates are getting a "good response" as the 'double-engine' government failed in all aspects which the people have come to recognise.

The INDIA bloc parties have come together to save Goa and its environment, Alemao said and pledged that both -- Khalap and Captain Viriato Fernandes -- will raise local Goan issues in Lok Sabha and give ‘nyay’ to Goans.
