Describing St Anne as the beacon of hope for the helpless and sufferers, Superior General of the Society of Pilar Fr Nazareth Fernandes SFX on Saturday called upon on the faithful to emulate the life of St Anne, who was
the mother of Mother Mary and grandmother of Jesus Christ.
Fr Fernandes delivering his homily on the theme ‘Let us emulate the life of Saint Anna, and be the live example of good virtues’ during the Feast Mass of St Anne’s Church in Agonda.
Fr Fernandes was the main celebrant at the Feast Mass, while other con-celebrants included Agonda Parish Priest Fr Patrick Luis, Asst Parish Priest Fr Baltazar Fernandes, Fr Octavian Cunha, Fr Santiago Fernandes, Fr Arvin Fernandes, Fr Darrel Fernandes and Deacon Sean Cardozo.
Hundreds of faithful congregated for the Feast Mass, which was followed by Fr Nazareth Fernandes carrying the statue of St Anne in a procession and the people lining up to venerate the statue.
Later on Saturday night, a Konkani Drama ‘Besanv’ was staged in aid of the church.
Earlier, the Novena Mass was celebrated by nine different priests from various parts of Canacona deanery.
