Goans Against EVM ask voters to remain vigilant while voting

Stating that there is likelihood of things going wrong, Goans Against EVM has appealed to voters to remain vigilant during voting and to report to its leaders in case of any incident related to EVM.

Addressing reporters in Panaji on Friday, one of the leaders Rama Kankonkar informed that there are chances of things not happening correctly when voting.

“For instance, the voter could press the button even before the long beep or the voter votes for one party but the VVPAT shows another. So, in such situations, we urge the voters to remain vigilant as we want to ensure that the votes go to the right candidate,” Kankonkar said while urging that people could approach the leaders of Goans Against EVM if they need help.

When questioned by The Goan how they are going to address issues reported to them, Kankonkar said that they have a team of volunteers who will get in touch with the voter who complains to them.

Meanwhile, the leaders have urged Goans to participate in large numbers for the May 7 voting.

“If you want to make a difference, go out and vote in large numbers,” one of the leaders urged.

Further, Janardhan Tamankar appealed to voters to vote for the party which will protect the country’s Constitution.

“Today, the Constitution is under threat and the voters should vote consciously for the party which will save the Constitution,” Tamankar added.

Earlier, Jack Mascarenhas informed that their fight against EVM is not over and it is still ongoing.

Others who spoke included Xencor Polgi, Mariano Ferrao, Rupesh, Mansoor, Iftiyar Shaikh, Amancio and others.
