A holiday in Goa turned tragic for a group of tourists from Mysore after one person was killed and another seriously injured in a road accident near the Merces junction on Friday evening.
According to reports, a group of 10 persons from Mysore arrived in Goa on Thursday and were staying at a hotel in Calangute. On Friday, the group visited Old Goa after renting two-wheelers.
At around 6 pm, as they were travelling from Old Goa towards Panaji, one of the two-wheelers was hit from behind by a passenger bus carrying employees of Goa Medical College Hospital.
Two tourists, Chandu Laxman and Kiran Shivanya, were seriously injured and rushed to GMC Hospital. Laxman died while undergoing treatment, while Shivanya remains under treatment.
The bus driver was later taken into police custody. Old Goa police are investigating the accident.
