Drishti Marine Lifesavers rescue 12 across Goa this weekend; also provide first aid to monkey-attack victim at Dudhsaga

PANAJI: Drishti Marine lifesavers carried out 12 rescues across Goa’s beaches and tourist locations this weekend, in addition to providing first aid to a tourist injured in a monkey attack at the Dudhsagar waterfalls. The lifesaving teams also administered first aid to three persons and successfully traced three missing children during the same period.

At Dudhsagar waterfalls, lifesavers treated a 28-year-old man from Hyderabad who sustained a cut on his left hand after being attacked by a monkey and falling near the site. He was administered first aid and handed over to his companion. In a separate incident, a 32-year-old tourist from Andhra Pradesh was rescued after jumping into the water without a lifejacket.

At Sinquerim beach, three members of a family from Gujarat were swept by a large wave and left panic-stricken. Lifesavers carried out a coordinated rescue using a rescue tube, bringing all three safely to shore.

At Candolim beach, a 30-year-old man from Bengaluru was caught in a strong rip current about 70 metres offshore. The lifesaving team responded using a rescue board and jet ski to bring him safely to land.

At Calangute beach, a search operation was launched after two children went missing while playing on the beach. Acting on information from two older children, the lifesavers used the patrol vehicle to locate the missing children, who were soon found on another stretch of the beach and reunited with their group.

At Baga beach, a 56-year-old man from Kerala was rescued after being caught in a rip current. He was brought safely to shore using rescue tubes.

At Vagator beach, two minor boys, aged 14 and 15, were rescued after being caught in a rip current. Another 12-year-old boy who accidentally swallowed water while playing was given immediate medical assistance and later shifted by a 108 ambulance for further care.

At Miramar beach, lifesavers traced a missing child who had wandered away from his parents. The child was brought to the tower, and a loudspeaker announcement helped locate the parents, leading to a safe reunion.

At Benaulim beach, a 29-year-old woman from Bengaluru drifted about 50 metres from the shore while bodyboarding and began to panic. Lifesavers promptly entered the water with a rescue tube and brought her safely back.

At Palolem beach, two separate rescues were reported. A 70-year-old tourist from South Korea who had drifted deep into the sea was brought safely to shore, and a 38-year-old man from Pune caught in a rip current was rescued using a surfboard and rescue tube.

At Agonda beach, a 76-year-old tourist from the United Kingdom was rescued after being caught in a rip current. Lifesavers used a surfboard and jet ski to bring him safely to shore.
