Two drivers escaped with minor injuries when a tempo and a van collided with each other along the Vasco–Chicalim road on Saturday morning
The accident, which occurred near the airport junction, caused a brief traffic slowdown on the busy stretch linking Vasco to Dabolim.
According to sources, the collision took place when the tempo and the Maruti van were travelling and reportedly misjudged the lane. The impact left both vehicles damaged, but no serious injuries were reported.
Alert motorists and locals immediately rushed to assist the injured and helped clear the vehicles from the road to prevent further congestion.
Vasco police reached the site soon after being informed and facilitated the smooth movement of traffic. Both drivers were later taken to a nearby hospital for first aid and were declared out of danger.
Police have registered a case of accident and are investigating the matter to ascertain the exact cause of the collision, including whether overspeeding or negligence led to the mishap.
The damaged vehicles were later towed away from the road for further verification.
