Aam Aadmi Party on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Water Resources Department demanding immediate completion of the work undertaken in Siolim to lay water supply pipelines which is causing havoc and headache to the local residents.

AAP Siolim co-ordinator Pujan Malvankar who led a delegation of residents to the Assistant Engineer’s office pointed out that the authorities had earlier promised that the work will be completed by 30th November and said since it is still not complete they have submitted the memorandum.

He pointed out that the work has been going on for years now and in order to lay the broad pipes for water supply the road has been dug up completely due to which people are suffering from dust pollution.

Besides, he said as there are no proper street lights people returning from work late evening meet with accidents and have to spend money for treatment and also to repair damage caused to their vehicles. “Is the government or the contractor willing to pay this unnecessary expenditure incurred by the people?” he asked.

Pujan pointed out that the road at Marna is in a terrible state. Similar is the road from Sonarkhen Vaddo to Afframent Vaddi.

“In fact the village of Siolim is totally cut off from the taluka headquarters Mapusa and people cannot even get an ambulance to come to their houses in case of emergency,” he said while demanding that the authorities clearly specify when the work will be completed.

Erwin Fonseca, AAP member and resident of Siolim also questioned Pramod Sawant on where the Rs 1.40 lakhs being spent on every Goan as per the budget is going.

While accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Goa of playing with the lives of the people, he said AAP will not tolerate this and that he and his party will fight with the people of Siolim to get the work completed as soon as possible.
