Taxi union in Goa files plaint against influencer Rupali Dixit

PANAJI:

The South Goa Taxi Association has filed a defamation complaint against social media influencer Rupali Dixit over a viral Instagram reel in which she referred to Goa taxi operators as a “mafia.”

Association members marched to Vasco Police Station to lodge the complaint, claiming the video has damaged the reputation of local taxi operators.

According to the association, Dixit had hired a tourist taxi from Dabolim Airport to Malvan around two months ago for an agreed fare of RS 5,500, which was paid upon arrival. However, they alleged that she later posted a reel claiming she was charged RS 10,000.

Calling the claims false and misleading, the association stated that fares were as per government-approved rates and such allegations harm their livelihood.

The association has sought a clarification from the influencer and urged authorities to take action, while also appealing to tourists and influencers to avoid posting misleading content about Goa’s taxi services.
