Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar arrives in Goa for three-day visit

PANAJI: Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife, Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar, arrived in Goa today for a three-day official visit from May 20 to 22. He was welcomed at the airport by Governor P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, Protocol Minister Mauvin Godinho, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, and other dignitaries.

The visit will focus on key areas including port infrastructure, maritime security, agricultural research, and India’s traditional knowledge systems.

As part of his itinerary, the Vice-President will dedicate new projects at Mormugao Port and interact with officials of the Port Authority and the Indian Coast Guard. He is also scheduled to visit the ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI) in Old Goa, where he will engage with scientists and faculty members.

In addition, the Vice-President will commission statues of Charaka and Sushruta at Raj Bhavan, paying tribute to their pioneering contributions to Ayurveda and surgery.
