PANAJI
On the eve of the Goa Legislative Assembly’s budget session beginning Friday, Goa Forward Party chief and legislator Vijai Sardesai has said public participation has been overwhelming and claimed he had got 2,193 public suggestions and grievances.
Addressing a press conference in Panaji on Thursday, Sardesai declared that he is determined to raise these issues effectively in the House even as he pointed out that legislators have already submitted 42 starred questions and 210 unstarred questions.
In addition, 14 Zero Hour matters and 14 calling‑attention notices have been tabled, he said, adding that four private member bills and three resolutions are also lined up.
Commenting on the current political and social climate, Sardesai launched a sharp attack on the government while dwelling on the wave of protests and public anger across Goa.
He said, it will be difficult for the ruling side to defend its position during Assembly proceedings. “The Opposition has taken steps in the public interest. Expectations are rising. This session will be stormy. The government will be forced to explain itself on many issues,” Sardesai asserted.
