Victim injured on face and chest during late-night altercation

A 40-year-old man from Candolim has been arrested for allegedly attacking a man with a chopper and threatening others during a late-night altercation at a villa in the coastal village. According to police, the incident occurred on March 4 at a villa in Candolim.
The accused, identified as Priyankar Allay, a native of West Bengal, allegedly assaulted Hualzanthanga, a resident of Mizoram, with a chopper, causing injuries to his face and upper chest.
The complaint was filed by Lalramhluna Mc, a resident of Porvorim, who stated that the victim was his friend and was present at the villa along with others at the time of the incident.
Police said the accused also allegedly threatened the complainant’s friends with dire consequences and warned them that he would kill them.
Based on the complaint, an offence was registered by the Calangute Police under Sections 118(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation into the case is in progress.
