Govt creates 400 posts of forests guards

Cabinet approves 325 special posts for government primary schools

In order to effectively protect and administer naturalforests of the State, the cabinet gave a go ahead for creation of 400 posts ofspecial forest guards.

While 70 percent of the total posts of special forest guardswill be reserved for community living within the “wildlife proximity Zone”, thebalance 30 percent will be filled from people living in forest talukas withupper age limit of 42 years.

This will also take care of the people who are living inmining belts and who have lost their jobs after the mining aftermath.

Addressing newsmen on Wednesday after the cabinet meeting,Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that the cabinet has also approved 325special posts for government primary schools. The applicants will have tofulfill Recruitment Rules and should have B Ed in English language from areorganized university. 

“We have decided to give a trained English teacher togovernment schools. This will open opportunity for contract teachers providedthe RRs are fulfilled,” the CM said.

Parrikar further informed that teachers will have to beflexible to teach students of three or four schools and will not be restrictedto one school like other teachers.

Giving details about amendments in Lokayukta Bill, the CMsaid that in order to remove difficulties and to give clarity to Goa LokayuktaAct 2011, the State cabinet has decided to amend section 2 sub item four.

Also the sub section 2 of section 3 has been amended.

 “Goa Lokayukta shallbe a person who has held an office of a judge of Supreme Court or of a chiefjustice of high court,” Parrikar said. The term of the Lokayukta has beenchanged to five years from three years.

“Any false or frivolous complaints will invite a fineranging from 1 to 10 lakh besides punishment,” the CM added.
