Magicbus “ a project to empower children, youth andcommunities in area of education, gender, health and leadership through sportand personality development “ was launched in Goa at the hands of ChiefMinister, Manohar Parrikar in the presence of more than 8,000 people onCurchorem Gymkhana ground.
Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar lauded the efforts of the Fomentogroup that made this dream project a reality in Goa.
“The government is thankful not for the monetaryresponsibilities shared by Fomento, but for the will, dedication and organized teamefforts displayed by Fomento,” Parrikar said.
With knowledge comes responsibility and finally the makingof a good person, the CM told the gathering.
“It is not enough to be smart. Smartness and intelligence needsright direction and guidance. Education is important but to be a good humanbeing and using the knowledge for right cause is more important,” Parrikarsaid.
The CM appealed to the children to avail the opportunity providedby the Magicbus to develop an all-round personality.
“Magicbus India Foundation is already working in nine Indianstates and Goa is the 10th state to benefit from this mega project thatcurrently touches the lives of 2 lakh children,” said Alka Shesha, Founding Member,Magicbus.
“Our aim is to empower children and youth towards a fruitfuljourney to livelihood. It is a commitment and Magicbus will work towardscreating awareness among youth and make them avail the opportunities towardsbetter living,” added Shesha.
Magicbus, a joint project of Fomento Resources, Governmentof Goa and Magicbus Foundation, would initially cover 5,000 children from fiveconstituencies in Goa “ Curchorem, Sanvordem, Shiroda, Sanguem and Canacona forthe next three years.
Five Magic Buses were inaugurated at the hands of the CM onthe Curchorem ground.
The students are provided with T-shirts, shorts, shoes andequipment by Fomento Resources and they would be trained by the communitysports coaches and youth mentors from their localities. The buses presented tothe children will enable them to take part in the activities of Magicbus.
