During the process of smartening Panaji city, several of the traffic sign boards were either demolished or removed to make way for the unending road digging works. This created confusion since some of the previously one-way roads became two-way without any warning and by the absence of traffic police. Now that the dust in the Smart city has settled to an extent (thanks to the monsoon), new signages were installed. Reportedly, these are missing leaving behind proudly standing iron pillars, sans any boards! It is weird as to who might have removed/stolen the boards and for what purpose. This indicates that either the CCTV cameras in the vicinity, installed by the authorities at a huge cost and by the shop owners, are either not working or the cops missed their beats. Does this daring robbery of signages portend the coming of bad times or will the citizens witness some signs of good times by the way of intense patrolling by the police and working CCTV cameras?
