Pickups and trucks transporting construction materials such as sand, laterite stones, rubble, metal, etc are supposed to cover the same with a tarpaulin on safety grounds.
However, this norm is not being strictly followed practically and many a times such materials are carried in an exposed condition. However, such a practice turns dangerous to fellow travellers and pedestrians proceeding along the road.
At Adpai, trucks were recently noticed transporting mud in a totally exposed condition without protective cover of any sort. I doubt whether the elected representatives at the local village panchayat, viz the VP of Adpai-Durbhat have noticed this.
Even in Ponda, we come across such instances on different occasions. The concerned competent authorities should initiate a stringent drive in this sensitive matter.
