Massive agricultural potential of Goa

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that a small country like the Netherlands is the world’s second-largest agricultural exporter (after the US) to the tune of 100 billion Euros. Cutting-edge tech made this tiny country a major exporter of food. The Netherlands has used advances in vertical farming, seed technology and robotics to become a global model.

All this brings me to my main point, Why Not Goa? The State has rich fertile soil backed by water resources and being a small state, it is fairly easy to roll out an aggressive agricultural policy which will not only be environmentally friendly but also sustainable (of course keeping the forests out of it).

Goa Government in particular and Goans in general need to think bigger and beyond vs just allowing properties to builders to just build apartment complexes, gated communities, villas and with it destroying/polluting the environment and drastically reducing our water tables! Goa’s rich soil, a God given valuable resource, is being destroyed for shorter term financial benefits vs longer term financial benefits via agricultural opportunities (not to mention a possible legacy for future generations).
