Certainly a disturbing news item, coming just two days after the world celebrated Environment Day. It is indeed a frightening scenario. The environment statistics report released by the Central Government also highlights other environmental issues like fish production, forest cover, garbage generation, etc.

There is another disturbing news item in your newspaper about the rising temperatures and humid conditions in Goa on account of the lull in the monsoon. So, who is responsible for this situation?

The bottom line is, we need to take up all environmental issues seriously. And this is the situation in Mumbai and other parts of the country as well, and indeed the world at large. We all need to take responsibility for our actions, which ultimately affect the planet as a whole.
