Pay parking at Vasco a good move by MMC

The Mormugao Municipal Council has decided to introduce pay parking on Swatantrata Path road and in front of the municipal building in Vasco city on a pilot basis. The decision was taken collectively at a municipal meeting chaired by Chairperson Girish Borkar, along with councillors.

The initiative aims to streamline roadside parking, which is currently unregulated and often chaotic, with two-wheelers and four-wheelers parked haphazardly without any charges.

The introduction of hourly paid parking is expected to bring better order and ensure fair access to parking spaces, particularly benefiting four-wheeler owners in the busy city area. Paid parking will also help prevent the misuse of roadside spaces and improve overall traffic management.

Additionally, with the fish market now shifted to a new building, the area previously used as a temporary fish market near the vegetable market can be considered for parking, subject to the consent of the landowner.
