Electrical transformers existing along the roadside need to be provided with a locking system on safety grounds. However we come across instances wherein the transformers remain in an exposed condition thereby posing a threat for innocent pedestrians proceeding along the road.
In case any person comes in contact with the live electrical wires, he is likely to receive an electric shock thereby leading to adverse consequences. At times one may even lose his precious life.
To cite an instance is the transformer situated at the junction near Ravinagar in Ponda. The same was noticed in an exposed condition for almost four consecutive days i.e. from November 10 to 13. The door was closed on November 14.
Linesmen of the electricity department deputed at this strategic location failed to close the door of this particular transformer at the appropriate time so as to assure safety to precious human lives. The senior officials at this important department should take a note of this and arrange introduction of a suitable locking system for transformers so that public at large are assured the much needed relief on a permanent basis. Prompt favourable action would indeed be appreciated by one and all.
