Twenty-three days after being brutally assaulted in a public place by an armed group, social activist Rama Kankonkar was reportedly discharged from Goa Medical College and Hospital on Saturday.
Kankonkar reportedly said that the police investigation into the brutal assault is completely politicized and called for an independent probe while suspecting political connection to the assault.
The Opposition parties have also demanded that the investigation be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or to be monitored by a retired High Court judge.
The Goa Congress has reportedly even warned of statewide agitation if the government fails to act. The social activists in the state are continuing with the “Justice For Rama Kankonkar” movement.
Given the seriousness of the case it seems absolutely necessary to come to the crux of the matter. No one is above the law. Truth should prevail. Goans want to know the truth regarding who is behind the assault and the reason for the same.
In the meantime police protection should continue for Rama Kankonkar and his family at his residence as was promised earlier.
