Two videos of the millennium will go down in Indian political history as speaking a million words. One showed us what we didn't want to see, the other what we didn't want to believe. The first was a clip of 2001 which shows the President of BJP Bangaru Laxman taking a cash bribe from a purported arms dealer. We thought that men at that level were beyond reproach or carried a higher price: the video taught us that they could be brought cheap. Anyway Bangaru paid the price. Now another video is doing the rounds. It caught an electoral officer in a blatant act of rigging. Anil Masih of Chandigarh was asked to conduct mayoral poll. He was caught in a video marking the ballots on his own. The video went viral few weeks ago, shocking the moral, ethical, political and judicial conscience of India. If Bangaru video showed what most of us know what was happening , the Masih video showed us what we thought wasn't happening at all. And it was this anguish that made the Supreme Court to intervene in what otherwise would be dismissed in a corner of a newspaper.
