Will DGP probe scandal in ranks of police?

Will our Chief Secretary and the recently appointed Director General of Police meticulously investigate and ascertain whether an Inspector of the Goa Police is having an extramarital affair with a BJP politician. If it is true, then our Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should hang his head in shame for his proven political impotency or moral ambivalence. After all, he has a duty to ensure that those who are elected and those that are paid from the public purse are expected to serve the public and to act as role models, otherwise those that legislate and those that execute the law will be seen as a laughing stock.

The fundamental role of the police is to maintain law and order and public safety without fear or favour. An illicit association of this nature clearly could lead to a conflict of interest and the ability of either party to act with integrity in any situation. The police will have a lot to explain about their inaction and as to how they allow one in their ranks to breach the law and morals of their profession.

CCTV cameras in shop premises will help police solve crimes

It is understood that the Vasco police has recently asked the shopkeepers in the port town to install CCTV cameras in their premises for security reasons. This will obviously act as a deterrent to theft and shop breaking during the night. The CCTV footage will also assist the police in the investigation.
