With reference to the news wherein Chief Minister Pramod Sawant wants to promote EV charging stations at petrol pumps, this idea is not feasible as there is no space for charging each vehicle at the petrol pumps as it takes a minimum of one to two hours to charge every vehicle. I would suggest the following: To have a multi-level parking for EV charging and have shopping malls, eateries and business centres to be introduced surrounding all petrol stations; The best is to install charging points at all paid parking zones, or in front of hotels, restaurants, playgrounds, shopping malls, and cinema halls. So it should not be limited to petrol pumps due to lack of space. The waiting time at markets also can be utilised to charge the EVs. The payment system should be digital through QR codes. If these two suggestions are implemented we can see a smooth transition of charging EVs, without putting the load on petrol pumps.
