Goa Forest Development Corporation Chairperson and MLA Dr Deviya Rane has announced a strict ban on alcohol and plastic at waterfalls across the state to curb littering and protect ecosystems. She said the initiative is aimed at promoting responsible tourism, ensuring that natural sites remain clean and safe for visitors. To enforce the move, plastic pickers and bins have been set up at popular spots, while bag checks and fines will be imposed on violators.
Well, I really congratulate her for taking such a great initiative and coming out with such a bold step near waterfalls across the state to make people behave like civilised human beings and to keep such places cleaner in Goa.
It has indeed become a trend amongst today’s youngsters to organise their group picnics during weekends and go with crates of alcohol near waterfalls to bathe, to enjoy themselves, and to casually litter such places with glass bottles, trash, etc. in Goa.
I think that the government should not make mere announcements in the state but take strict action against all irresponsible people who habitually indulge in the above acts, i.e. consuming alcohol and creating a nuisance for others near waterfalls, to finally make these places safe and keep them clean in Goa. Anyway, great move by Dr Deviya Rane. She really needs a loud round of applause for the above bold step.
