Electrical operations are a critical component of power supply, as they power the various systems and equipment. However, electrical operations can be hazardous if proper safety measures and best practices are not followed. After the recent deaths of linesmen in electrical department, the department should adhere to strict safety operations such as risk assessment; lock out, tag out procedure for main switch boards and all electrical panel should be locked for safety; proper use of PPE; use proper tool and equipment; identify electrical hazards; proper training and communication use electrical signages; proper grounding and bonding; emergency response drills and medical first aid and junior engineer should be present during the electrical operations with the staff for safety concerns. Following this procedure will reduce unnecessary deaths of electrical linesmen.
