Recently a transformer existing at the junction in the vicinity of Durbhat jetty in Ponda was noticed in an exposed condition on two different occasions. Perhaps the lock of this transformer must have developed some defect which prevents it from remaining closed permanently. Consequently, the transformer remains in an exposed condition thereby turning it dangerous for innocent pedestrians proceeding along this strategic route. Many people proceeding for work via Durbhat ferry walk their way along this route and the above dangerous situation tends to be a severe threat to their lives. The public at large must be assured safety and hence it is the need of the hour for the higher officials at the electricity department in Ponda to issue necessary instructions to the linesmen to find out the defect in the door of this particular transformer. Necessary repairs must be attended to on a priority basis so that the door remains closed permanently. Let us hope that the authorities would initiate prompt action.
