There are several reasons why GoaMiles is needed. One of the biggest advantages is that one could be standing any place where no ‘tourist taxis’ are available and summon one easily through GoaMiles app. Secondly, one does not have to haggle over the fares because they are regulated, reasonable and definitely cheaper than the tourist taxis.
Tourist taxis may claim that they have fixed fares from point to point. However, there are innumerable points between points, where these taxis are not available. Even if they are found, one is forced to argue about the rates since such taxis have no meters.
It is high time that ‘tourist taxis’, as they call themselves become available to public along the lines of GoaMiles. They also need to realize that a large number of small distance rides with less price will ultimately lead to a larger net profit, compared to a few long distance rides with a high price.
But then, they will have to work harder and for many more hours, instead of sitting at fixed points and waiting for tourists to engage them. I hope the government will respond favorably to GoaMiles, which is a public need.
