We had two festivals, Akshaya Tritiya and Eid falling on the same day. Similarly, in the month just gone by, we had a couple of festivals coinciding on the same day and several others very close to each other, within a span of around ten days. Well, that’s what India is. That’s what India is all about! A melting pot for different cultures, religions, castes, etc. Are we not proud then, of this great nation, a nation where we can live together in a spirit of brotherhood? Why then are the people of this country getting swayed by small fascist, fanatic groups seeking to sow seeds of discord among communities? As the new reports say, Akshaya Tritiya is a very auspicious day, marking a new beginning, whether it is business or a new home or new construction. How about making a new beginning by building new relationships and bridges between communities? The vast majority of citizens are not interested in issues like hijab, halal, loudspeakers, language, food, etc. Let’s make a new beginning. Can we do that?
