Building of a jetty at Loutulim is questionable ? The river Zuari flows nearby and there is a good waterfront. Also, the waterfront area adjacent to Chicalim is occupied mostly with shipyards. At Cortalim however one comes across the old Portuguese warehouses alongside the river. They are named, 'Commercio', 'Junta' and 'Externo.' The casino industry in part or new comers could be allowed to operate from here using these warehouses as comfort zones. It is a prominent area and close to the Margao - Panaji highway. It is perhaps better suited for a jetty provided the locals have no objection of course.
Any income received by way of taxes can be used for local development. This is the way things need to move. Whichever area comes forward for any project should be given the benefits of development. Minus any kickbacks of course. It is also important to document the reasons for welcoming or abandoning any project. Future generations will thus be able to understand the issue better and not just what but why certain decisions were made.
Many ideas such as Marinas originated abroad. The nations where they exist are today viewed as developed countries. Even Indians have lived and worked there and made their mark and wealth there. However, if such projects ruin the environment, then we need to reconsider.
