Celebrating Christmas with garbage collectors, as reported in your daily dated December 28, was indeed a noble gesture on the part of the Chicalim parish. It must have certainly warmed the hearts of those workers to be felicitated in such a manner. This gesture could be replicated at other places as well, celebrating certain other events with those who quietly serve us.
While we organize such events we should however think of the ill effects of the garbage that we generate -- the thin plastic bags for instance, which have made their appearance once again all over the place. We need to think of the environment. This planet Earth is the only planet which has life, so let's preserve it. We need to keep in focus the three Rs - Recycle, Reuse, Reduce.
