Kudos to this retired postman who is reaping rich dividends (The Goan Everyday, December 2020). This retired postman has shown what retirement really means. For many, retirement would mean hanging up one's boots and whiling away his time doing nothing at all. But, for this retired postman, Cristovam Souza, retirement meant beginning a new inning. Hats off to this enterprising postman for taking to farming and reaping rich dividends in the bargain. From converting part of his farm into ponds, to cultivating fish, poultry, etc he has shown that anyone can become self-reliant in food production. Seriously, Goans owning land should take a cue and grow their own food instead of depending on pesticide-infested vegetables. It seems like there is no limit to what this retired postman can do. There is a quote that reads, "Retirement is not the end of the road. It is the beginning of the open highway."
