It is really sad and heart breaking that a young jeweller was murdered in broad daylight at Margao. Though injured, the jeweller fought back back but in vain. What surprises many is the role of the silent spectators to this gory incident, with none making an attempt to nab the assailants who were fleeing after committing the crime.
Shame on people who were mere spectators and video shooting the incident instead of grappling with the assailants or alerting the police, or at least raising an alarm.
Disorderly elements from outside Goa are on the rise and during a crisis like this the tendency to cross any limits cannot be ruled out. We ought to take care of ourselves because Goa is no longer a safeone. The influx of non-Goans is due to exodus of our Goan brothers and sisters to greener pastures abroad, thanks to the Portuguese passport.
We the people of Goa should be active to handle this type of situation in future and not to watch and take pictures and videos like the fool's and uneducated.
If an incident of the sort that took place in Margao had to happen elsewhere in the country, the assailants would have been torn apart by the violent crowd. Stringent law against crime is the need of the day.
Requesting the govt of Goa to bring the murderers of Swapnil Naik to justice at the earliest. Or, a police encounter of all the assailants would be the best justice as was done with a gangster in UP a month ago.
May God give the strength to the family of the victim to overcome this grave moment of grief and pain. May his soul rest in peace.
