Sound ban: Relook at timing needed

Events are characterized primarily by music which dominates events by high decibel sound systems with amplifiers. But how much is high for music to be classified noise and at what time it is allowed to play and when not, needs to be analysed with caution.

Singing is always accompanied with music whether base or rhythmic guitars, drums, organ, percussions etc, all these produce sounds of varying intensity.

The magisterial decree having been out recently to ban all forms of noisy sounds called pollution in the form of music etc after 10 pm is a bit harsh and requires trimming and flexibility and a relook.

With  Christmas and New Year festivities around the corner, midnight masses in churches dotted all over state, events like dances and all other allied functions etc cannot be devoid of music, musical shows, speeches etc, which are decades-old norms and traditions.

Certain innovative ideas could be factored in to restrict noise from becoming a nuisance and inviting punitive measures from authorities.
