The Congress Working Committee (CWC) has reportedly urged Sonia Gandhi to continue as the party's interim president until an All India Congress Committee session is convened despite the letter written by 23 top dissenting Congress leaders complaining about the state of affairs in the party during a recently held meeting.
Well, this clearly shows that besides the Gandhis, most seniors from the Congress party have still no interest in electing a new charismatic leader outside the Gandhi family.
Most of them neither have self-confidence nor leadership qualities, and feel that someone with a Gandhi surname alone should always head and rejuvenate the Congress party.
The Congress leaders are definitely committing a political blunder, if not suicide by still relying on the Gandhi family.
Congress leaders should seriously think of appointing a capable liberal-minded new leader like Shashi Tharoor or Sachin Pilot as party president and outrightly reject the Gandhi clan. If not the grand old party will only Rest In Peace forever.
