Recently the Governor of Goa was appealing to experts to look into the decline of cashew production in Goa. Yes he has said it right. But his own government is responsible for this with permissions to cut hills which once had abundant cashew plantations.
Some cashew plantations are also destroyed by setting them on fire so that the real estate builders are allowed to convert the land into settlement.
What more do you expect of Goa's natural biodiversity to remain? The tigers and other wild animals are now migrating into human habitation causing conflict. When given an opportunity to speak on environment all ministers ask the people and youth to save the environment while these same elected representatives make laws to destroy Goa.
Cases are pilling in the high court and NGT when these elected representatives fail to change their greed for money. It is no use to listen to these top politicians or even invite such people to speak on this topic of environment.
A time may soon come when we will have wax or clay museums to showcase Goa's biodiversity for tourists and the generations to come.
