The attempt of the rain gods to playspoilsport proved futile as motorsport lovers from all across India wereaccounted for beyond expectation at the Drag Race 2012 organised by TeamGoa Racing in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) at Verna. Theorganisers received tremendous response from car enthusiasts and were floodedwith entries. The heavy showers made sure there were no marks of burnt tyres onthe road, but the screeching sound of the cars and the spirit of theparticipants and spectators more than made up it. The participants relied on theirtried and tested wheels and competed for the fastest run on a 400m stretch.
It was a pleasant sight for racingenthusiasts to witness the participation of powerful performance machinesranging from the Lancer Evo X, Aston Martin Vantage, BMW M3 to Mercedes SLK. TheirIndian counterparts, though with alterations in terms of engine settings, werealso put on display by their proud owners. The highlight of the show, however, was the ‘pimped-up’ Maruti Esteem from Bangalore which registered one of thefastest run on the stretch in merely 15 odd seconds.
