When AAP leaders from Goa and particularly Delhi, announced their intention a few months back to go solo at elections in Goa, many Goans including myself were aghast on this arrogant and over confident attitude of AAP. We then had clearly sent a message to AAP leadership, that any key opposition party going solo was not in the interest of Goa. We have seen this vote splitting impact not only at the last 2022 Goa Assembly elections but also the just concluded Zilla Parishad election! We also warned AAP that this going solo decision can severely damage the prospects of AAP in Goa; in is a fact that AAP performance at the ZP 2025 elections was even worse than our expectations where they won only 1 one of 43 seats contested; not to mention the vote splitting in many places could have benefitted the BJP in many places. Hope AAP top leadership introspects and learns lessons from the ZP elections and changes their stance on going solo. They should join the united opposition alliance with the sole aim of getting the BJP out of power in the state!
