Apathy seen written all over govt quarters

The PWD should ban contractors from participating in its tendering process for their poor quality construction and renovation of government residential quarters. Most of the renovation of the government quarters are poorly done by the contractor, with cracks and falling of ceiling concrete seen.  Due to the substandard quality of painting of quarters, employees are compelled to engage workers on their own to paint their quarters. And thus the public exchequer is looted by tainted people. A classic example of 18-A Quarters at Patto, where all poor and substandard quality of work can be seen with cracks on walls and ceiling concrete falling from top. The employees are not occupying quarters due to poor housing facilities, lack of maintenance and upkeep. Most of the quarters occupied are in horrible conditions.  Occupants say that it is just a cow's shelter. Staff living in various government quarters have often complained of the poor condition of the buildings, due to leakages and no regular maintenance works undertaken. Government quarters are public property and have to be viewed as assets not treated in such a manner.
