I understand that BCCI has banned fireworks during the ongoing World Cup cricket games in Mumbai and Delhi. The harmful effects of fireworks on humans, animals, and the environment are well known.
Now, in Goa, along with the National Games, we are entering into very festive periods. During the New Year, in particular, excessive fireworks turn many places in Goa, including villages, into toxic gas environments.
May I please request the Goa Government to take the proactive step and ban any kind of fireworks in Goa throughout the year, including at the National Games? Also, in the campaign to make Goa a healthy destination, the latter will be welcomed by like-minded people.
