Big salute to SC on Pegasus order

SC has finally appointed a 3-member panel of cyber experts to probe the alleged widespread use of Israeli spyware Pegasus.

In one of the best significant verdicts in recent times over the issue of citizens right to privacy, the bench said that mere invocation of national security by the state cannot render the judiciary a "mute spectator".

Opposition parties had been rightly demanding a discussion in parliament and asking Modi govt to either call for a joint parliamentary committee or to request the SC to appoint a sitting judge to investigate, which the government was refusing to do.

But since SC has now appointed a panel, we hope the truth will finally come out and all those guilty will be punished to protect the democratic structure and freedom of speech.

A big salute to the SC bench for somehow clamping down on the Centre through its latest verdict on Pegasus.
