Across the state, residents have been losing peace and sleep due to the thunderous roar of illegally modified bikes. From the south to the north of Goa, in villages and cities, people are facing a worrying rise in reckless riding and noise pollution caused by these illegal silencers.
With around 11.2 per cent of Goa’s population being senior citizens”the second highest in the country”they are particularly affected by the loud noise. Many young riders swap stock silencers for custom ones, creating a roar designed to draw public attention.
Numerous activists have filed over 160 complaints, as these bikers are not only causing noise but also endangering lives, disturbing senior citizens, heart patients, and schoolchildren. Traffic police and authorities need to take immediate action against these riders before any serious accidents occur.
