CM Pramod Sawant recently claimed that there would be no expansion of coal handling or transportation in Goa. But the reality is very different. Similar promises were made in the past ” no hill cutting, no land filling, strict action on the Zuari land scam, protection of the environment, roads completed in 48 hours, and thousands of jobs for Goans. Yet, most of these promises have not been kept. It is clear that the BJP has built a record of lies, U-turns, and broken commitments. Their assurances of reducing coal pollution are no different. The government appears to be working under the influence of coal and real estate lobbies, ignoring the interests of the people of Goa.
