It is sad to see that due to the old trees on the highway and on the main roads, the rates of deaths, injuries, and accidents are increasing in Goa. The PWD department has extended the road widening on both sides of the road due to the increase in traffic but has failed to cut down the trees that line the sides of the roads. It appears that the government doesn’t care about the safety of its citizens on the roads.
Additionally, at many places, electricity poles have not been shifted. When accidents occur, live wires may pose a danger to people and animals passing by. These dangerous electrical poles and trees can be found throughout the state of Goa and should be relocated or removed from the sides of the main roads to prevent further confusion and dangerous accidents.
There is no proper planning in our country, India, and its state development. Roads are extended without proper coordination between different departments like the electricity department, PWD department, and forest department. The government should cut down the trees that are affecting traffic, the electricity department should shift the poles that are located on the sides of the roads, and the PWD department should relocate the water pipelines that are in the middle of the roads. This will prevent pipeline breakdowns from damaging the hot-mixed roads, which turn into potholes.
